4/24/1999 - 4/30/1999

This week was a cool one here in San Diego.  I thought we were getting started on the warm weather, and next thing I know it is freezing outside.   Mom and dad did not help too much by making me go with them to look at new cars on Sunday night and again on Monday night.  Daddy is going to have to start picking me up from day care in a couple of weeks, and I guess his car was to difficult to put me into my car seat.   I thought it would have been kind of neat to be in the car seat of daddy's Cavalier.  I saw how the seat was, and it went right between the two front seats.   Daddy had no room to move his seat or arm with my car seat there.

So on Sunday we went to look at new cars.  We went to one dealership at 6:30, and they said they were closed when we tried to walk inside from the cold weather.  That was a pretty stupid thing to do since daddy wanted to buy a car.  So we left and went to another dealership.  The guy at this one was pretty nice, but there prices were just to high.  Daddy told him that his cars were more expensive than the other dealerships we went to, but I do not think the guy believed him.  Daddy was telling the truth though, so again, we moved on.  Finally we ended up in Chula Vista, where we found the prices of the cars to be much better.  Daddy wanted to test drive a car, but the battery was dead and they closed thirty minutes before hand, so he was unable to.    Since they were closed, and battery dead, we decided to go home and go back the next night.

Here we are, back at the dealership and it is not even six yet.  Dad looked at the car again and then took it for a test drive.  It was a 1999 Chevy Malibu that daddy wanted to trade his 1997 Chevy Cavalier in for.  The Malibu was a pretty light blue color that daddy, mommy, and I all liked with a light gray interior.  It was a standard model, no power windows or locks, no cruise control, not even a tape deck or CD player with the stereo.  It was upgraded to a V-6 engine though rather than the V-4.    Anyway, daddy spent the whole night getting these people to lower the payments for the car.  They wanted daddy to pay almost $400 a month for it, and he said no way!   At about nine thirty they came back and said $330 a month with $1000 cash down.   Daddy looked at the guy and said, "Do you want to sell this car?"   The guy replied, "Yes."  Daddy looked him right in the eyes and said, "$500 cash down, $300 a month payments, and I will sign paperwork."

The guy walked out of the room and came back, put a piece of paper down in front of mommy and daddy.  It said $500 down, and it also said just a hair over $300 a month, and daddy grabbed the pen and signed.  We finally got out of there at about eleven at night, and daddy had is new car!  It is a 4 door two, so it is so easy to put me in and out of my car seat now.  I think daddy is so much happier now.  Daddy plans to put his stereo into this car now, that means this will be the fifth vehicle that this stereo goes into.  He is not going to put the big stuff in though, just the stereo and the CD changer.  The question is, when will he do it?

Mom's birthday was the other day.  Me and daddy took her out to eat to the Olive Garden for a nice Italian dinner and then we took her bowling.  Dad kicked her butt the first game, but then decided to let her win the second game, after all, it was her birthday.  Mommy says that we have to do that more often, and that she will not let him win next time either.  They both claim they let the other win, who is telling the truth?  I think daddy is telling the truth!

I had to go to day care yesterday, even though daddy had the day off.  I guess he went back to the dealership so that they could detail his new car.  He also had to pull his stereo out of the Cavalier and put the factory one back in.  Daddy told mommy that he was getting frustrated trying to get the factory stereo back in since he cut all the speaker wires when he put his stereo into it.  I guess he said forget it and went and talked to the guy and he said not to worry about it.  So daddy got home earlier than he had expected, but still did not come and pick me up.  I wish he would hurry up and start picking me up.  Actually, I wish he would not tell mommy to take me to day care when he has the day off.  At least I get Saturday and Sundays with him though.

My legs are getting stronger and stronger.  I can stand up longer now when mommy and daddy help me balance myself.  I am talking allot to mommy and daddy too.  I am getting to that drooling stage now, so I can be dangerous.  I love to watch mommy and daddy eat.  I do not know what it is about it, but it sure does make me smile.    Not too much else has happened over the week, so I better get going now.
